Bookbinding & Woodworking - Make Your Own Book!
Stacy Koo is a book binder who was exposed to book binding at a young age of 5 years old. She developed an interest since. The interest sparked off a series of international courses, spending time to study more and experiment about book binding.
Lyn, founder of Studio MU / YU, believes in the unexpected beauty of wood and makes it wearable through slow made wooden jewelry and bags made with the intention to inspire the appreciation for nature. All pieces made are upcycled from discarded wood materials from various carpentry and designer studios in Singapore.
In this workshop, experience the making of wood covers and staining, together with a hand sewn Secret Belgium bounded book.
The Secret Belgian Binding is originally invented by a Belgian bookbinder in the mid-1980s, this fascinating non-adhesive book structure features a 3-piece cover and a distinct, woven-like sewing pattern. The unique cover and sewing technique of this binding allows for the book to be flexible yet firm as well as to open completely flat, making it perfect to use as a notebook, sketchbook, photo album or to incorporate your own artwork or writing.
